Thanks to the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charitable Trust for supporting the renovation, The Hong Kong Award for Young People Jockey Club Expeditions Centre was furbished in 2014 to provide day, evening camp and tenting experience. Expeditions Centre has also received grants from Sir David Trench Fund for Recreation (Main Fund) Non-Capital Works Project 2023-2024 to purchase of sports / recreational equipment.

We offer a wide range of professional water sports training such as board rowing, canoeing, stand up paddle-boarding, dragon boating and other certificate courses. The centre also provides various training programs and on-site service to enable young people to have a comprehensive development.

The centre is located at a convenient location. It is an ideal venue for outdoor educational activities as participants travel through famous attractions in Sai Kung like Yim Tin Tsai, Sharp Island, West Dam, Pak Tam Chung.

About Camping Reservation

1. May I add the number of campers for reservation on the spot?

No, all reservation needs to be completed 2 weeks prior to start of camp.

2. Will there be hot water supply during camp?

Yes, there will be water dispenser for cold/hot drinking water for campers.

3. Will there be power sockets for charging my phone/electric fan?

Yes, if greater power source is needed (e.g. charging laptops or other electrical appliances) activity room with electrical sockets will be available for booking.

4. What time should I arrive camp and when can I start pitching my tent?

The official camp duration starts at 3pm until 1pm of the following day, campers may pitch their tents after 4pm, and will be required to take them down by 9am (except for other activity packages).

5. May the arrival procedure be completed if the person in charge/leader is absent?

As the procedure for camp arrival needs to be completed by the person in charge/leader, if neither is present upon arrival time, please contact center staff for update of person in charge via email so that the new person in charge can proceed with the arrival.

6. Is it possible to early camp arrival/late departure?

Day camp/evening camp must be reserved accordingly if campers wish to arrive camp early/depart camp late as well as its corresponding activities and catering.

7. Is the camp fee inclusive of meal or activity?

Day camp/ overnight camp fees are excluded from any meals and activities, additional charges will apply if food/ activity is required.

About the Campsite

1. Is the activity room equipped for lessons/lecturing?

Yes, TV monitor, VGA & HDMI cables, mobile projector, white board and power source are all available in the activity room; the activity room is under hourly rental, in which less than an hour of usage will also be counted as an hour.

2. May I bring along my pets to camp?

No, pets are prohibited in camp area due to campsite hygiene maintenance and protection of other campers (except for rent out)

3. Is it possible for campfire activity within campsite?

Groups are allowed to start fire in designated areas for cooking, whereas fire is prohibited on the grass patch.

About Catering

1. If a camper will be having his/her birthday during camp and a birthday cake is prepared, is it possible to store the cake within facilities of the campsite?

The campsite does not provide refrigerator for storage in that context. Campers will have to store outside catering by themselves.

2. Will the campsite cater campers with special dietary needs, for example vegetarian, food allergies etc.?

Please contact center staff 2 weeks prior if campers require any dietary needs, groups shall be reached by center staff shortly for that matter; quotation will be provided for the respective menu.

3. If campers would like to prepare their meals by barbeque/cook set/wilderness cooking, will the campsite provide tools and equipment for respective methods?

Barbeque pit/cook sets/burners/utensils are available in the campsite for free; if no reservations were made regarding meal preparation, campers will have to prepare coal/Cassette Petroleum Gas for cooking. Campers will also cook within areas designated by center staff.

About Activities

1. May I conduct different certification courses within a day?

All certification courses should be run according to requirements of the respective association, including the maximum/minimum participants and course duration. Participants must fulfill the required training standard in order to complete the certification course.

2. When shall I book activities after my camp reservation?

Activities should be booked 2 weeks prior to the start of camp (given the activities are still available for booking); groups are recommended to book as soon as possible to avoid unavailability of chosen activities. Groups will have to make arrangements by themselves if activities are fully booked.

3. Is there an age restriction/minimum number of participants to activities offered by the campsite?

Others

1. Will parking space be available at campsite?

There will be no parking space available for campers within campsite; campers may park at empty spaces near the campsite.

2. Will there by loading/unloading areas for cargo trucks?

There will be no loading/unloading area for trucks; minibuses may unload participants right outside the gate of the campsite whereas tourist buses may unload participants around the Monument for Martyrs Against Japanese Militarism.
