Physical Recreation Section Annual Seminar – Cycling Development (06/12/2017)

Physical Recreation Section Annual Seminar for Cycling Development organized by Physical Recreation Section Panel was successfully held on 6th December 2017 at The Hong Kong Girl Guides Association Headquarters. It was our honor to invite Mr. Liu Ka Kit (Panel Member of PR Section) and Ms. Cham Yuen Wai (CRS Cycling Instructor), to be our guest speaker. Mr. Liu first shared how to complete PR Section by cycling and Ms. Cham shared the cycling requirement of Expeditions Section. Participants could better understand how cycling activities in both Sections complemented each other. The seminar attracted more than 40 instructors from different Operating Authorities.

International Gold Event 2017 – Czech Republic (25-30/10/2017)

The triennial International Gold Event (IGE) took place in the Czech Republic this year. There were 76 participants from different parts of the world to help shape and deliver the Award worldwide. Two Gold Awardees represented AYP to attend the IGE 2017. During the event, Mr. Christopher Pang was elected as the Emerging Leader Representatives of Asia Pacific Region. He will represent young people of Asia Pacific Region to attend the International Council meetings and also regional conferences in the next three years.

Five Section Panels Gathering 2017(13/10/2017)

Five Section Panels Gathering organized by Award Programmes and Assessment Sub-Committee was successfully held on 13th October 2017 at Crystal Ballroom, The Cityview. It was a great opportunity for the Award to express gratitude to all volunteers for their support in the past year. More than 70 volunteers attended the gathering.

[Running Korea-Korea Exchange Projects Report Back](12/9/2017)

2 Korea Exchange Projects were successfully held in summer vacation 2017, which included the Gold Level Expeditions assessment journey and SmarTone AYP Hong Kong – Korea Exchange Project 2017. After the participants from the 2 activities came back HK, a report back sharing session was held at Kowloon Award Centre on 12th September 2017. Participants shared experience and things they learnt in Korea.

Visit to GFS HQ (8/9/2017)

The CRS Refreshment Training, Visit to Government Flying Service (GFS) was successfully held on 8th September 2017. There were 24 Instructors and Assessors from different Operating Authorities attended the training. They understood more about the daily operations of GFS and the search and rescue service provided.

HK Macau Canoeing Challenge Trip 2017 (18-21/08/2017)

HK Macau Canoeing Challenge Trip 2017, which was co-organized by The Hong Kong Award for Young People and Hong Kong Sea Cadet Corps, was completed successfully on 21 Aug 2017. 26 young people accomplished the trip by spending 4-day-3-ngiht. The Send-off Ceremony was held at the Hong Kong Girl Guides Association Jockey Club Tung Chung Activity Centre. We are honored to have Mr. LAU Ming Wai, GBS, JP as the Officiating Guest of the Ceremony.

S SmarTone AYP Hong Kong – Korea Exchange Project 2017 (15-21/08/2017)

SmarTone A 7-day and 6-night culture exchange project to Korea was successfully held between 15 August and 21 August 2017. 15 Hong Kong Gold Award participants traveled to different provinces in Korea with 11 Korean Gold Award participants. They visited Seoul, Cheonan and Yeongdeok to have different cultural exchange activities. During the trip, Hong Kong participants learnt more about Korean history and culture, and built up friendship with Korean participants.

Launching Ceremony of Gold Level Expeditions Course for School Leavers in South Korea (27/07/2017)

After training for three months, our participants are ready to undertake their Gold Level Expeditions assessment journey in South Korea in coming August. A launching ceremony was held on 27th July 2017 at the Award Office.

Youth Development Policy Consultation (24/07/2017)

Mr. LAU Ming-wai, Chairman of Commission on Youth came to Award Office to take part in Youth Development Policy Consultation on 24th July 2017 (Monday). Mr. Lau, Award holders, volunteer and staff shared the views on youth issues, such as citizen participation, all-round development, and sustainable development. Many insights were given after the sharing and discussion.

Silver Level Cycling Expeditions Training Course 2017

Silver Level Cycling Expeditions Training Course has been organized by Expeditions Section Panel in February. With different trainings lectures and several practice journeys, participants successfully finished their assessment journey in May. This marked their accomplishment in Silver Level Expeditions Section. Meanwhile, this training course was also a final placement for some potential cycling instructors. They could hence register to be an Expeditions Cycling Instructor in the future and would continue to promote cycling development in Expeditions Section.

Expeditions Annual Seminar – Cycling Expeditions Development (18/05/2017)

Expeditions Annual Seminar for Cycling Expeditions Development organized by Expeditions Section Panel was successfully held on 18th May 2017 Thursday at The Hong Kong Girl Guides Association Headquarters. It was our honour to invite Mr. Chan Chung Yu, Senior Cycling Expeditions Instructor, to be our guest speaker to share his experience on organizing a Cycling Expeditions course.
The talk attracted more than 60 Instructors, Assessors and Award Leaders from different Operating Authorities.

The 95th Silver Award Presentation (11/05/2017)

The 95th Silver Award Presentation, officiated by The Hon Matthew CHEUNG Kin-chung, GBS, JP, the Chief Secretary for Administration, was successfully held on 11 May 2017 at MacPherson Stadium, Mong Kok. This time we have 316 Silver Awardees and 68 recipients of Certificate of Appreciation (7 years’ & 3 years’ service). The Presentation ended in ardent applause of over 500 recipients and guests.

Talk on Mountain Casualty Handling (07/04/2017)

An Instructor Self-Enhancement Course on Mountain Casualty Handling organized by Expeditions Instructors Central Registration Unit was successfully held on 7th April 2017 Friday at Civil Service Aid Headquarters. It was our honor to invite Mr. Louis Chow, ECSI Wilderness First Aid Instructor, to be our guest speaker. The talk attracted more than 140 instructors and assessors from different Operating Authorities.

Spring Reception 2017 (8/2/2017)

Spring Reception 2017 was successful held at The Cityview on 8 February. We would like to express thanks for the supports of volunteers, Operating Authorities and Government Agencies. Special thanks to The Hon. Eddie Ng Hak-kim SBS, JP, Secretary for Education who shared the joy of Chinese New Year with us.

2017 Rogaine24 (22/01/2017)

2017 Rogaine24 organized by The Hong Kong Award for Young People was successfully held on 21-22 January 2017 (Saturday - Sunday). There are over about 900 participants took part in the tournament. Special thanks must be given to our volunteers who supported the event!
