Provides young people with a learning venue integrating digital technology, creative culture and innovative sports. The campsite breaks traditional stereotype by merging new energy-saving and environmental protection elements. Redevelopment in 2020 marks an important milestone. New technologies are incorporated to various training programs like augmented reality (AR) sports and emerging sports like HADO AR Dodgeball and AR Climbing.

The campsite is awarded BEAM Plus Provisional Silver level and CLP Smart Energy Award 2020 – Smart Technology Grand Award for its conservation of materials and energy in the design, construction, operations and maintenance of the building.

With the generous support from The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. The completion of the camp in 2020 marks an important milestone in the Hong Kong Award for Young People Jockey Club Duke of Edinburgh Training Camp reconstruction plan.

the Sir David Trench Fund for Recreation (Main Fund) for 2020-21 to support its purchase of sports / recreational equipment
under Non-Capital Works Projects.

HKAYP Jockey Club Expeditions Centre

Thanks to the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charitable Trust for supporting the renovation, The Hong Kong Award for Young People Jockey Club Expeditions Centre was furbished in 2014 to provide day, evening camp and tenting experience. Expeditions Centre has also received grants from Sir David Trench Fund for Recreation (Main Fund) Non-Capital Works Project 2021-2022 to purchase Sit on Top and Stand-Up-Board.

We offer a wide range of professional water sports training such as board rowing, canoeing, stand up paddle-boarding, dragon boating and other certificate courses. The centre also provides various training programs and on-site service to enable young people to have a comprehensive development.

The centre is located at a convenient location. It is an ideal venue for outdoor educational activities as participants travel through famous attractions in Sai Kung like Yim Tin Tsai, Sharp Island, West Dam, Pak Tam Chung.

About Residential

1. Is extra bed available?

Extra bed is not available in the campsite.

2. Will there be electronic kettles in the residential room?

No, but the campsite has water dispenser which provide hot and cold water for campers to drink.

3. Will there be hair dryers, slippers or towels in the room?

No, campers need to bring their own if they want to use it.

4. What time should I check in and when can I get the room key?

The check in time for the camp is from 3 pm on the day of entry to 1 pm on the day of departure. The room key will be delivered or collected respectively.

5. Can a non-applicant or team leader distinguish the admission procedure?

The personal information of the applicant or the team leader needs to be checked due to the entry procedures. If the above two types of responsible persons fail to enter the camp, please notify the camp by email with the full name and contact number of the new team leader. The new team leader may proceed with the entry procedures.

6. If I booked an overnight camp, can I check-in earlier or late check-out?

Day camp/evening camp must be reserved accordingly if campers wish to arrive camp early/depart camp late as well as its corresponding activities and catering.

7. Does the camp fee include meal or activity?

Meals and activities require additional reservations and related fees.

About Venue Rental

1. Is there a projector available for borrowing in the activity rooms?

Yes, the activity room will contain some basic equipment. For details of the equipment, please refer to the following web pages.

2. If there are not enough chairs in the activity room or other materials are needed, can I borrow them from the camp?

Since each activity room has a limited number of chairs, there are no additional chairs for rental.

About Catering

1. The camp stipulates that everyone who enters the restaurant or barbecue site must have booked meals. We are a family group with a 2-year-old child. Does he have to book a meal too?

If the child is under 3 years old and does not occupy a seat, this restriction is not applicable.

2. I wanted to prepare a birthday cake for my friend’s birthday. Can the camp provide a refrigerator for storage?

It is strictly forbidden to bring foreign food into the camp, but cakes can be ordered on behalf of the campers. If necessary, you can contact the camp staff for a quote.

3. Will the campsite cater campers with special dietary needs, for example vegetarian, food allergies etc.?

If campers have vegetarian needs, they can consider ordering vegetarian meals at the camp. For food allergies or other special dietary requirements, you can contact the camp staff and we will provide a quotation for the special menu.

Other

1. Is there a parking lot?

There are 8 parking spaces for visitors on a first-come, first-served basis. The person in charge of the organization can reserve parking spaces by email in advance.

Each parking space will be charged an administrative fee of HKD $100. Vehicle with reserved license plate is only allowed to enter and park once. The charge will be recalculated if the vehicle exits the Camp.

The gates are open from 8:30 am to 10:30 pm.

2. Is there a loading/unloading area of the campsite?

There is a tourist bus pick-up and drop-off area in the camp. The time of entry and exit is from 9 am to 9 pm. The gates will be locked at other times and no pick-up and drop-off services are available.

About Camping Reservation

1. May I add the number of campers for reservation on the spot?

No, all reservation needs to be completed 2 weeks prior to start of camp.

2. Will there be hot water supply during camp?

Yes, there will be water dispenser for cold/hot drinking water for campers.

3. Will there be power sockets for charging my phone/electric fan?

Yes, if greater power source is needed (e.g. charging laptops or other electrical appliances) activity room with electrical sockets will be available for booking.

4. What time should I arrive camp and when can I start pitching my tent?

The official camp duration starts at 3pm until 1pm of the following day, campers may pitch their tents after 4pm, and will be required to take them down by 9am (except for other activity packages).

5. May the arrival procedure be completed if the person in charge/leader is absent?

As the procedure for camp arrival needs to be completed by the person in charge/leader, if neither is present upon arrival time, please contact center staff for update of person in charge via email so that the new person in charge can proceed with the arrival.

6. Is it possible to early camp arrival/late departure?

Day camp/evening camp must be reserved accordingly if campers wish to arrive camp early/depart camp late as well as its corresponding activities and catering.

7. Is the camp fee inclusive of meal or activity?

Day camp/overnight camp fees are inclusive of one serving of lunch/dinner, additional charges will apply if extra food/activity is required.

About the Campsite

1. Is the activity room equipped for lessons/lecturing?

Yes, TV monitor, VGA & HDMI cables, mobile projector, white board and power source are all available in the activity room; the activity room is under hourly rental, in which less than an hour of usage will also be counted as an hour.

2. May I bring along my pets to camp?

No, pets are prohibited in camp area due to campsite hygiene maintenance and protection of other campers (except for rent out)

3. Is it possible for campfire activity within campsite?

Groups are allowed to start fire in designated areas for cooking, whereas fire is prohibited on the grass patch.

About Catering

1. If a camper will be having his/her birthday during camp and a birthday cake is prepared, is it possible to store the cake within facilities of the campsite?

The campsite does not provide refrigerator for storage in that context. Campers will have to store outside catering by themselves.

2. Will the campsite cater campers with special dietary needs, for example vegetarian, food allergies etc.?

Please contact center staff 2 weeks prior if campers require any dietary needs, groups shall be reached by center staff shortly for that matter; quotation will be provided for the respective menu.

3. If campers would like to prepare their meals by barbeque/cook set/wilderness cooking, will the campsite provide tools and equipment for respective methods?

Barbeque pit/cook sets/burners/utensils are available in the campsite for free; if no reservations were made regarding meal preparation, campers will have to prepare coal/Cassette Petroleum Gas for cooking. Campers will also cook within areas designated by center staff.

About Activities

1. May I conduct different certification courses within a day?

All certification courses should be run according to requirements of the respective association, including the maximum/minimum participants and course duration. Participants must fulfill the required training standard in order to complete the certification course.

2. When shall I book activities after my camp reservation?

Activities should be booked 2 weeks prior to the start of camp (given the activities are still available for booking); groups are recommended to book as soon as possible to avoid unavailability of chosen activities. Groups will have to make arrangements by themselves if activities are fully booked.

3. Is there an age restriction/minimum number of participants to activities offered by the campsite?

Age restriction and minimum number of participants are applied in activities offered by the campsite, please refer to our website for more detail.

Others

1. Will parking space be available at campsite?

There will be no parking space available for campers within campsite; campers may park at empty spaces near the campsite.

2. Will there by loading/unloading areas for cargo trucks?

There will be no loading/unloading area for trucks; minibuses may unload participants right outside the gate of the campsite whereas tourist buses may unload participants around the Monument for Martyrs Against Japanese Militarism.
