The Scheme

3 Award levels and 5 sections' activities

  Bronze Award Silver Award Gold Award
Requirements Age 14 of above Age 15 of above Age 16 of above
Service At least 15 hours spread over at least 3 months At least 30 hours spread over at least 6 months At least 100 hours spread over at least 12 months
Expedition 2 days 1 night 3 days 2 nights 4 days 3 nights
Skills At least 6 months At least 6 months for those who have completed this Section at Bronze; or at least 12 months for Silver direct entrants At least 12 months for those who have completed this Section at Silver; or at least 18 months for Gold direct entrants
Physical Recreation 24 points* 30 points* 36 points*
Residential Project -- -- Spend at least 5 days 4 nights in a residential setting

Participants have to complete all sections' activity requirements by the 25th birthday, in order to achieve the particular award.

*Points are awarded for participation on the basis of 1 point for each half hourly session or 2 points for each hourly session. No more than 2 points may be counted per week. There is a minimum requirements of 6 participation sessions spread within a minimum period of 6 weeks.

Service
Aim
To encourage service to others.
Examples
Community Service, First Aid, Child Care, Life Saving, Fire Service, Care for Animals, Conservation Project and etc.

Expedition
Aim
To encourage a spirit of adventure and discovery.
Examples
Participants undertake a journey with a purpose in the countryside or on the water, either on foot, by cycle, in a canoe or boat or on horseback.

Skills
Aim
To encourage the discovery and development of personal interests and social and practical skills.
Examples
Arts and Crafts, Computer, Language, Collections, Music, Recreation and Life Skills.

Physical Recreation
Aim
To encourage participation in physical activities and improvement in performance.
Examples
Athletics, Dancing, Yoga, Swimming, Orienteering and etc.

Residential Project
Aim
To broaden experience through involvement with others in a residential setting.
Examples
Work Camps, Coaching Course, Outward Bound Courses, Service Projects, Leadership Training Courses, Sailing Training Voyages and etc.
