The 2nd Inauguration of the AYP Executive Committees of HKU SPACE (18.10.2008)

The Inauguration of the AYP Executive Committees of HKU SPACE was successfully held on 18 Oct 2008. To witness the delightful moment, the staffs from Headquarters were invited to attend the Inauguration. AYP Executive Committees from other universities and co-operating organizations also attended to share the joy.

Mr. LAM Sheung Yeung handed the HKU SPACE CCSU AYP Society to the inaugural Chairman, Ms. LEE Lai Yan. The hand-over ceremony marked the beginning of the next phase. Ms. LEE swore in with her Executive Committee Members and declared their ambitions to accomplish AYP goal in this executive year.

Train the Trainer workshop (17.10.2008 & 19.10.2008)

The Team Building – Train the Trainer workshop organized by Expeditions Instructor Central Registration Unit was successfully held on 17th and 19th October 2008, at The H.K Girl Guides Association and Sau Mau Ping Road Safety Town. It was a great pleasure to have Mr. Kung Chun Wang, Chief Inspector and Mr. Lo Kam Tim, Assistance Force Training Officer from The Hong Kong Police to be our guest speaker. Through the workshop, the speakers introduced and demonstrated many different kinds of team building activities to instructors. The workshop attracted nearly 50 instructors and assessors from different Operating Authorities.

SmarTone-Vodafone AYP International Exchange Project --- Environmental Conservation Tour to the Netherlands (3.8.2008 - 14.8.2008)

12 participants from Award Operating Authority, Hong Kong Police Operating Authority and Schools Operating Authority took part in the “SmarTone-Vodafone AYP International Exchange Project – Environmental Conservation Tour to the Netherlands” held between 3 and 14 August 2008. This exchange tour was organized by The Hong Kong Award for Young People Headquarters, sponsored by SmarTone-Vodafone AYP International Exchange Programme Fund, co-organized by The International Award for Young People – The Netherlands, Municipality of Bernheze, The Netherlands and Scouting Mira Ceti Nistelrode. 12-day programme included team building and outdoor activities (e.g. rope course and canoeing), visit to Water Station, fieldworks and talks on Water Policy and Measures of the Netherlands as well as home stay. Asia Pacific Youth Water Forum (23.6.2008 - 27.6.2008)

The 2nd Asia Pacific Youth Water Forum hosted by the NYAA Council in Singapore from 23 to 27 June 2008 was a success. More than 140 young people from 15 NYAA Operating Authorities including youth representatives from eight member countries in the Asia Pacific Region of The Award attended the event. Miss LUI Cheuk Ning (SOA) represented The Hong Kong Award for Young People to participate in the forum. The delegates were invited to a programme including exhibitions, site visits and the Closing Ceremony. Each delegate gave a country presentation at the Forum. Miss Lui Cheuk Ning will share with us what she saw and experienced in form of a written report later.

The 84th Silver Award Presentation Ceremony (13.5.2008)

The 84th Silver Award Presentation Ceremony of The Hong Kong Award for Young People was successfully held on Tuesday, 13 May 2008 at Pui Ching Middle School. We were honoured to have the Hon. Leung Chun Ying, GBS, JP, Convenor of the Non-official Members of the Executive Council as our Guest of Honour. 401 recipients were presented with Silver Awards and 51 volunteers were presented with Certificates of Appreciation. Apart from that, a powerpoint sharing of recipients was shown and Chu Pun Yin, one of our Gold Award participants, shared her gain and loss during her participation in AYP.

The Inaugurations of the AYP Executive Committees of the Universities (4.2008)

Various Universities in Hong Kong have joined AYP as User Units under Award Operating Authority. Their Inaugurations for the AYP Executive Committees 2008-2009 have been successfully held in April 2008 respectively. During the Inaugurations, all former User Unit Leaders and Presidents of AYP Executive Committees shared with participants their experiences and feelings as well as expressed their gratitude towards their retiring Executive Committee Members. Mr. Lai Pui Wing, the Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong Award for Young People, had attended as the Guest of Honor and delivered speech of congratulation respectively. Moreover, Executive Committees from other University AYP User Units and co-operating organizations also attended to show their support.

Residential Project Section Sharing Session (8.3.2008)

“Residential Project Session Sharing Session”, organized by the Residential Project Section Panel, was successfully held on 8 March 2008 in the HKAYP Award Headquarters. ORBIS Hong Kong, Sowers Action, Hong Kong Playground Association were invited to give sharing in addition to AYP Candidates, Residential Project Assessors and Organizers. Not only we could know more suitable activities for candidates to complete the Residential Project Section, we also know more about the role and responsibility of Assessor and Activity Organizers through this Sharing Session.

Talk on CAS Mountain Search and Rescue (8.3.2008)

The talk on CAS Mountain Search and Rescue organized by Expeditions Instructors Central Registration Unit was successfully held on 8th March 2008, Saturday at The Hall of Civil Aid Service Headquarters. It was a great pleasure to invite Mr. Chan Tat Shing and Mr. Chow Chiu Wing from Civil Aid Service to be our guest speaker. They introduced some cases for participants to discuss how to handle and prevent accidents during Expeditions. The talk attracted nearly 90 Instructors and Assessors from different Operating Authorities.

SmarTone-Vodafone AYP International Exchange Fund Launching Ceremony (31.3.2008)

SmarTone-Vodafone AYP International Exchange Programme Fund was officially launched on 31 March 2008 at HKAYP headquarters. Jointly set up by SmarTone-Vodafone and The Hong Kong Award for Young People, the Fund aims to support personal development of Hong Kong’s underprivileged youths.

Representatives of The Hong Kong Award for Young People received the Programme Fund from our Guests of Honour, Mr. Joseph Lee, BBS, JP, Chairman of Commission on Youth; Mr. Douglas Li, CEO of SmarTone-Vodafone and Mr. Simon Ho, MBE, Chairman of The Hong Kong Award for Young People, indicating SmarTone-Vodafone AYP International Exchange Programme Fund has been set up officially.
