　"During my service in the Award Scheme in the past 40 years, I truly believe the
　Scheme does encourage young people to achieve whole person development
　and help to nurture our future leaders to build a harmonious society. I am
　honoured to be appointed as the new Chairman of the Award Council by
　the Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The new
　Award Council will continue the effort made by past Chairmen and Council
　members, to cultivate our young people to become a person who is mature,
　responsible, self-confident and willing to serve to the society.”

Biography

Mr. Simon Ho Che-leung, MBE has been serving the Award Scheme for over 40 years. His involvement began as early as 1963 when he organized a group of students to take part in the Scheme (formerly known as The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award). Since then, he has played different roles in helping the scheme to develop as he moves along in his career in the Education Department.

Shortly after his retirement in 1997, he was appointed as a member of the Award Council. He was appointed as Honorary Treasurer since 2004. He was also appointed by the Award Council as Chairman of the Schools Operating Authority Committee since 2003.
